PORTLAND, Ore. — Shoppers are feeling "majorly stressed" about grocery prices.
"I feel a little bit annoyed, a lot annoyed, and anxious," said a shopper outside Basics Market on Southwest Capitol Highway in Portland.
"I think it's scary," said another shopper, "and I don't think it's going to get any better soon."
Even younger shoppers are feeling the pinch.
"I think I've certainly stopped shopping so much," said Annika Hinds.
Economist Eric Fruit, a senior scholar from the International Center for Law and Economics, agreed.
"I think the real anxiety is not so much the prices but where the prices are about to go," he said, referencing future effects of tariffs .
