ASHEVILLE - What else to do with those pesky cicadas invading your lawn every 17 years?
Cook them.
"It's a big world out there; don't limit yourself," said Eric Morris, Executive Chef at Foothills Local Meats.
Morris and other local food and beverage professionals will showcase the range of cicada uses as a culinary delicacy, whether sugar-fried with quinoa, shallot and garlic or incorporated in a refreshing Cota tea (a traditional Navajo beverage).
The Cicada Dinner will be from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 24 in Fairview. The address will be provided to guests upon ticket purchase, as it will be hosted in the backyard of the organizer and philanthropist, Lauren Steiner.
Steiner said she was inspired to host the event after connecting with local forager Alan Muskat , founder of No Taste Like Home
