As students head back to class, the Jefferson County School System is implementing a new program designed to give students more options when it comes to their education.
The "Majority to Minority Program" allows students to transfer to a school where they are the racial minority.
If a Black, white, or Hispanic student goes to a school where their race is the majority, they can transfer to a school where it isn't.
Superintendent Walter Gonsoulin said this will address "racial isolation" within certain schools.
