CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Carbondale Police sent out an alert shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, urging people to stay away from the 500 block of East Birch Street.
This is just south of the Erma C. Hayes Community Center.
Police said officers were called to an aggravated battery incident.
The alert went on to say there was no known risk to the public, but everyone should avoid the area.
At 3 a.m., police sent out another alert stating the road was open to traffic, but officers were still on the scene.
