WYTHE COUNTY, VA (LOOTPRESS) — In a move aimed at reducing costs for gun owners, Wythe County Sheriff Anthony Cline has announced that his office will no longer charge the Sheriff’s administrative fee for concealed handgun permit applications.

Effective immediately, applicants will now pay only the $15 court processing fee — down from the previous total of $50.

“As Sheriff, I do not believe citizens should be charged to exercise their constitutional rights,” Cline stated in a letter addressed to County Administrator Stephen Bear. “My duty is to protect those rights, not to profit from them.”

Cline said the decision reflects his commitment to law-abiding gun owners and the principles of the Second Amendment.
