NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Republican U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn announced on Wednesday that she will run for governor of Tennessee.

"It’s official! I’m running for Governor to ensure Tennessee is America’s conservative leader for this generation and the next," Blackburn posted to social media.

Blackburn joins Tennessee Congressman John Rose (TN-06), who announced his plan to run for the open seat in February.

Gov. Bill Lee was sworn in as the 50th governor of Tennessee in 2019. Lee, who cannot run again due to term limits, has yet to make any endorsements for his future successor. The 2026 Tennessee gubernatorial election is scheduled to take place on Nov. 3, 2026.
