CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Cleveland Browns will start rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders in their preseason opener Friday night, according to a report from Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

Sanders, a fifth-round pick in the NFL Draft, has not yet taken any snaps with the Browns' first-team offense during training camp, according to Cabot.

The opportunity comes due to injuries to quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel, both of whom are dealing with hamstring injuries. • Courtesy of CMSD • Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12) speaks at a news conference during the NFL football team's rookie minicamp in Berea, Ohio, Saturday, May 10, 2025.
