Mark Jantzer has been unofficially elected mayor of Minot following Tuesday’s special election, receiving 2,351 votes. Rob Fuller earned 1,430 votes, Paul Pitner received 1,398, and Josiah Roise got 324. Thirteen write-in votes were also cast, bringing the total to 5,516 ballots—more than triple the turnout from June’s half-cent sales tax vote. Jantzer, who has served on the city council since 2008 and has been acting mayor since April, will complete the current term through June 2026. He will be officially seated at the next city council meeting on Aug. 18, when the Canvassing Board is also scheduled to certify the results. A new council member will be appointed to fill Jantzer’s former seat.
