Using water drops from a department helicopter as well as a coordinated ground attack, Los Angeles Fire Department personnel extinguished a brush fire Wednesday in Elysian Park.

Fire crews responded at approximately 1:40 a.m. Wednesday to the Buena Vista Meadow Picnic Area at 526 Buena Vista Drive where they found the 50′ x 100′ area where the flames had burned earlier, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

No evacuations were needed, no structures were burned and no injuries were reported, Humphrey said.

LAFD crews will remain on scene to cool hot spots and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
