PAWTUCKET – It’s official: Students from the Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Arts will be moving to The Pawtucket Annex by Oct. 14, as unanimously voted by the Pawtucket School Committee on July 29.
District officials proposed the delayed start date instead of the first day of school, which falls on Aug. 25, to allow more time for a smooth transition.
“Right now, JMW is using classrooms that Jenks desperately needs,” said Pawtucket Schools’ Chief of Operations Mark Andrade of the current location for JMW at Jenks Middle School.
This is considered a temporary move, as an eventual relocation to the new Pawtucket High School when it’s built is still on the table.
