GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Last year, the Stuff the Bus campaign filled more than two buses from floor to ceiling, front to back, with school supplies.
This year, the community-wide school supply drive managed to fill three buses, and staff from United Way had to go pick up a U-Haul to get the overage.
Volunteers are still loading up all the crayons and glue sticks on Wednesday, and expect to fill a U-Haul truck to the brim.
"We are thrilled with the results. This is going to help so many children and teachers and schools. You should be very proud of how it turned out. Thank you all for your support and passion. I really felt it," Director of Community & Local Programming Catherine Behrendt said.
The school supply drive started on July 21 and ended with Stuff the Bus blitz day on Aug. 5 in
