The Sampson County Board of Commissioners heard the latest on road projects from the Department of Transportation, as well as an update on several ongoing water projects during the regular monthly meeting Monday night.

First up, the DOT’s Highway Maintenance Engineer Lance Eason and District/Resident Engineer Daniel Jones provided information on road repair and paving projects throughout the county.

Eason provided an update on maintenance items. “In the county currently, we’ve got two roads closed,” he reported. “Bearskin Road toward Salemburg, that pipe repair started today. We hope to get that done by the end of the week. We’ve got (Hwy.) 50 closed toward Faison, a couple of big pipes there. That should be open [Tuesday].”
