FORT STEWART, Ga. (WSAV) — UPDATE 12:03 p.m.: Gov. Kemp has issued statement on Facebook: “As we remain in close contact with law enforcement on the ground, Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by today’s tragedy at Ft. Stewart. We are keeping the victims, their families, and all those who answer the call to serve in our hearts and prayers, and we ask that Georgians everywhere do the same.”
UPDATE 11:58 a.m.: Casualties have been confirmed by Maj. Charles Egan. Some victims are being taken to Memorial Hospital.
UPDATE 11:52 a.m: Liberty County Schools have been placed on lockdown, including Button Gwinnet Elementary, Joseph Martin Elementary and Snelson Golden Middle School.
