The Lexington County Sheriff's Department arrested 26-year-old River Allen Mathis, of Cayce, on July 31 and charged him with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The announcement of the arrest was made by the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, which will be prosecuting the case.

The arrest of Mathis happened after tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to him. The attorney general’s office said Mathis is accused of possessing and distributing files of child sexual abuse material.
