A decade ago, young Troy Franklin was running with the ball at Levi’s Stadium while wearing No. 11. On Saturday night, he will be back at the stadium in a No. 11 jersey.

Franklin, the Broncos’ second-year wide receiver, was born and grew up in East Palo Alto, Calif., 15 miles north of Santa Clara. That’s where Franklin will be for Thursday’s joint practice with San Francisco and for Saturday night’s preseason opener against the 49ers.

“I remember it was at halftime (of a 49ers game),’’ Franklin, 22, told The Denver Gazette about when he was a kid playing for the Palo Alto Knights and he took the field at Levi’s Stadium not long after it had opened in 2014. “We had a 50-yard field to play on, and it was pretty cool. We played for about 10 minutes.”
