PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The man who was shot and killed by a Clark County deputy in late July has been identified, officials announced Wednesday.
Branden Michael Whitcomb, 36, of Vancouver, died from gunshot wounds to the head, neck and torso, according to the county medical examiner.
On July 30, authorities said a deputy fired shots at Whitcomb near Main Street and East 19th Street in Downtown Vancouver. Despite providing first aid, he was declared dead at the scene.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had gotten a call just after 10:40 p.m. from a person saying their son was going to kill them.
The caller said the son had broken in through the front door of their home, was high on meth and had been drinking.
