VINCENNES — A Vincennes man is facing a murder charge following a fatal shooting and a subsequent police standoff on Tuesday afternoon. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot.

According to the Vincennes Police Department, officers were called to the Cardinal Liquor Store at 2101 N. Sixth Street just before 1:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Hendershot with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. She was later pronounced dead by the coroner’s office.

The suspect, 32-year-old Dylan Allen Smith, reportedly fled the scene in a black SUV. A wrecked black Cadillac Escalade was found by police a block away, which led them to a nearby home on Carbon Street.
