A lawyer for Michael Proctor , the former state trooper fired in connection with the Karen Read case , said his client should not be asked about that investigation if called to testify in a separate murder case, records show.

In a July 30 filing in Norfolk Superior Court, Proctor’s lawyer said lawyers for Myles King , who’s charged with a 2021 murder in Milton, should only be permitted to ask his client about discovery issues in that matter, with the Read case off limits. Proctor also investigated the King case.

Proctor had been scheduled to possibly testify at a pretrial hearing on Tuesday in the King case, but the hearing was rescheduled for Aug. 12, records show.
