Large fire activity continued on Tuesday for the Lee Fire in western Colorado. Afternoon winds pushed the fire east toward Highway 13 and upped certain areas in Ready, Set, or Go evacuation status. Based on the Tuesday estimation, the Lee Fire has surpassed 13,000 acres. As of the Tuesday report, the Lee Fire had not yet crossed Highway 13 and crews were able to prioritize structure protection on the fire’s east and west side. Thankfully, the Elk Fire experienced less activity on Tuesday and fire crews were able to make the most of it. “Forward progression of the Elk Fire on the south side by County Road 8 has been stopped and crews were able to work to stop forward progression to prevent the fire from crossing Beaver Creek Drainage,” shared the update.
