HORNELL, N.Y. (WETM) — A Hornell woman was arrested on Tuesday after deputies claimed she had received thousands of dollars worth of assistance she wasn't eligible for in 2024.
Amanda S. Tuttle, 34, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 5, on the charges of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony, welfare fraud in the third degree, a class D felony, and grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, deputies said.
Tuttle's arrest comes from a report that from February 12, 2024, to August 31, 2024, Tuttle submitted false documents to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and was granted benefits she wasn't allowed to have, deputies said.
As a result of alleged fraud, Tuttle was granted $5,025 from social services.
