TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The historic Jackson House is falling apart piece by piece, and now its future may hang in limbo, too.

Over the weekend, a large portion of the siding on the second floor collapsed, causing a domino effect.

Advocates said time is of the essence to renovate, especially with these latest deterioration developments.

We're told Tampa’s Community Redevelopment Agency pledged $1 million toward restoration efforts years ago, and additional funding has since been raised.

"The issue is not about money," Councilmember Bill Carlson said. "It is about moving forward with the renovations so the Jackson House Foundation has promised that they are soon going to hire a architect to save it, so I am hopeful they will do that."
