SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — On August 6, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced in a press release of a fatality that was caused due to a one vehicle wreck in Irion County.

Ezequiel Vela Martinez was a 59-year-old man from Ozona, Texas, and was the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro that crashed at 5:29 p.m. on August 5 approximately four miles north of Barnhart on U.S. 67 reported by DPS.

The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on U.S. 67 near Barnhart. For unknown reasons, the driver drifted across the northbound lanes of travel and into the south ditch where he collided with a rock. The driver was pronounced dead on scene. The report showed he was not wearing a seat belt.
