BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - North Dakota Health and Human Services has released a new 10-year Cancer Control Plan aimed at reducing cancer deaths through prevention, early detection, and improved access to care, while also enhancing the quality of life for residents living with the disease.
Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in North Dakota. On average, 11 residents are diagnosed with cancer each day, and four die from it, according to the NDHHS. Officials say those numbers can be lowered through healthier lifestyle choices, increased awareness, and expanded access to screenings and treatment.
