WASHINGTON, D.C. (KXNET) — This week, the latest round of tariffs went into effect under President Donald Trump.

The president put in place a 35% tariff on goods from Canada that are not part of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement.

Senator Kevin Cramer says in recent months, the president had been pausing harsher tariffs as he tried working out new trade agreements with countries around the world.

Currently, North Dakota exports several billion dollars' worth of goods to Canada, most of which is oil, but also farm equipment, corn and wheat, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
