MCCLUSKY, ND (KXNET) — A family in Sheridan County is left picking up the pieces after what's said to be a 1 in 200 chance of occurring, happened to their home.
As many of us know, severe storms swept through North Dakota Thursday night and into the wee hours of early Friday morning. And in McClusky particularly, this very healthy, normal-looking home had a bad situation turn worse when lightning hit and set their home on fire.
Kim Saueressig, the McClusky homeowner's son, was home when the lightning strike occurred.
"It had one of the loudest, what I thought was thunder, hits that I've heard in my life."
It was around one in the morning that Saueressig heard the clap of thunder, but little did he know, that was the least of his concerns.
