GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Construction on the newest Skate Park in the city is getting ready to wrap up in September.

The $900,000 project began in April and was paid for by food and beverage tax. Once built, it will offer a wide variety of features for skaters.

The new park will be made out of foam and concrete and replacing their old park, which was built in 2001 and made of wood and sheet metal.

Parks and Recreation Director, Todd McCoy said replacing the old skate park was a necessity for safety and quality and the public and skating community played a big role in the planning and design phases of the project.
