The effort to tear down the former Carmelite monastery is taking a brief break.
At the Barrington Town Council meeting late last month, officials decided to push pause before awarding the bid for the demolition and abatement of the monastery.
Barrington Town Manager Phil Hervey said the delay will offer an opportunity for residents to ask questions and raise any concerns they may have about the project.
“There will be a neighborhood meeting for the public at the site for anybody who has questions,” Hervey said during a recent interview. He said Verdantas, LLC, the consultant hired by the town to help with the demolition and abatement process, will host the neighborhood meeting.
