HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - An early morning house fire in Hastings left one man with minor injuries.

Around 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Hastings Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at 1518 W. Seventh St.

The lone resident, an adult male, escaped on his own with minor injuries.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in about five minutes.

According to the city of Hastings, the fire was unintentional and caused by combustibles too close to a stove top.

The fire was contained to the kitchen, but the home sustained damage from heat and smoke.

The home did not have any working smoke alarms, the city said in a news release.
