MAUMEE, Ohio — EDITOR UPDATE: Dave Poepplemeier and John Sayre have formally withdrawn their names from consideration.
Several people have applied to fill the Maumee City Council position vacated by Scott Noonan , who resigned in the middle of his second term last month.
To be considered for appointment to the position, applicants must be residents and registered voters in the city of Maumee for at least two years prior to the appointment. Council will hold a special meeting on Aug. 11 at 6:15 p.m. to name the individual who will fill the seat.
Noonan himself had been appointed to council in 2017, and then was first elected in 2019 and later re-elected for a second term in 2023, the latter of which was set to expire on Dec. 31, 2027. Noonan called his resignation a "personal decision
