CAMBRIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A series of proposed zoning changes in Cambria have some local small farmers speaking out, calling it a gross example of government overreach that could affect their operations.
The proposed zoning changes, part of the Town's Local Law Number 2 measures, would raise the minimum acreage to be considered a farm from 5 acres to 7, a change that some farmers say could hurt their operations.
The Forsyth-Warren Tavern Living History Farm & Museum sits on 5 acres of land. The farm's co-owner, Charlotte Patterson says if the proposed law is implemented, it could also affect residents who moved to the town for homestead farming.
"Changes to this law don't allow us to be defined as a farm and therefore, take away all of our protections and rights as an agri-tourism business
