TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — On Aug. 6, Idaho Fish and Game responded to a call that a moose had been hit by a car on Washington Street near Park Avenue. Unfortunately, the moose was euthanized due to its injuries.

A local business helped remove the moose from the road, and it was salvaged.

Salvage of certain game killed by a vehicle accident is allowed by Idaho law, but Fish and Game must be informed within 24 hours to receive a salvage permit to do so legally.

Call local authorities or call 911 if an animal is hit and injured and move vehicles to the side of the road.

Accidents with moose can be hazardous. Motorists are advised to be cautious when driving during early morning and later hours when big game animals are most active. At night, look for shining eyes in headlines, and
