DENVER (KKTV) - Colorado Governor Jared Polis called a special session for the Colorado Legislature on Wednesday, citing the need to address impacts to the state budget following the passage of the massive federal tax bill earlier this summer.

According to Polis, the state faces a budget deficit of about $780 million this fiscal year following the passage of H.R.1, also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” The governor said this is despite beginning the year with a balanced state budget and projected TABOR surplus of $300 million dollars.
