The Colorado Avalanche coaching staff is set for the 2025-26 season.

On Wednesday, the organization announced the hiring of Mark Popovic as skills coach, replacing the recently departed Toby Petersen, who was hired to run the AHL team for the Dallas Stars. Popovic has done consulting work for the Avalanche and Colorado Eagles the last few seasons and will now take over full-time for Petersen.

The 42-year-old played 15 seasons of professional hockey, including 81 NHL games. The majority of his career was spent in the AHL and overseas in Switzerland and Russia. Popovic is the owner of Ignite Hockey, a hockey development company based out of Denver, and he also owns Perfect Skating Denver.
