SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - The mayor of Scott City, Missouri, is charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with an incident reported after a city council meeting in July.

The Scott County Prosecuting Attorney filed the fourth-degree assault charge against Norman Brant the afternoon of August 6, 2025.

According to court records, Brant is accused of grabbing and pushing a man identified as a business owner after the July 23 council meeting.

The victim told a county detective he attended the meeting to discuss flooding in the city impacting his business.

He said Mayor Brant told him it was none of his business, then allegedly assaulted him.

Heartland News reached out to Mayor Brant.

He said he did not have a comment regarding the charge.
