PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Work is being done at multiple elementary schools across Pittsylvania County to improve conditions for students and teachers and increase safety.
It’s all thanks to the 1% sales tax increase that was passed back in 2022.
At Southside Elementary School, a new central heating and cooling system is being installed to replace the window units.
“You can create a better quality environment for your students and staff,” said Steve Mayhew, Pittsylvania County Schools Superintendent. “We can have more ventilation which I think helps with the comfort of the students and to improve air quality.”
