FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A fox found August 5 in Rocky Mount tested positive for rabies, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

The rabid fox was found on the 18600 block of Virgil H. Goode Hwy.

This incident is a reminder that rabies is present in Virginia wildlife such as bats, raccoons, foxes, and skunks which sometimes infects domestic animals like dogs and cats.
