BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The new school year is less than a week away for many of our hometowns and some districts are starting the new year with a new person in charge; including Botetourt County.

That’s where WDBJ7’s Kaira Willis sat down with the new superintendent and discussed plans for the upcoming year.

Dr. Janet Womack will be leading the way for Botetourt County Public Schools starting Monday.

She discussed the new position, her history with the school system and what she has planned for the school year.

“This is just what I’ve always wanted to do and be involved in as an educator. And I love this work. I love the people in this work. We are a family in Botetourt, and we take that seriously. And so I can’t wait to get in the classrooms,” said Dr. Womack.
