QUINCY (WGEM) - SIU Medicine and the Ursa Farmers Co-op are hosting free skin cancer screenings Wednesday morning at Ursa Farmers Co-op on Highway 96.
The Skin Cancer Foundation reports skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. They report more than 9,500 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every day in the United States and one in five Americans develop skin cancer by the age of 70.
Sean Larson, SIU Medicine second year resident physician, said the farm and agricultural community are usually most at risk of skin cancer because of the amount of time they spend outside. He said skin cancer can often go unnoticed, so it is important to pay attention to any possible signs.
“So, signs that people can look for on their own is if they have like an area that they notice a l
