GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — We have learned the identity of a victim who passed away in a Gibson County crash on Monday.

As we reported, the crash happened on Monday evening at the intersection of State Road 68 and County Road 250 East near Haubstadt.

We have now learned that 29-year-old Jacob Birkla passed away in the crash.

Authorities say Birkla failed to yield the right of way while driving down CR 250 E, and was hit by a semi. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.
