MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KVRR) –The leader of the Feeding Our Future scheme is sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Abdiaziz Farah, 36, also gets three years of supervised release and is ordered to pay nearly $48,000 in restitution.

Farah played a leading role in the Feeding Our Future case, the largest Covid-19 fraud scheme in the U.S.

According to documents, Farah and his co-defendants stole more than $47 million in program funds by claiming to serve 18 million meals to kids at more than 30 food distribution sites.

Prosecutors have now obtained over 50 convictions scheme-wide.

The investigation has been conducted by the FBI, IRS and U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
