COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An investigation is underway after a woman who was reported missing was found dead in Colorado Springs last week.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the department received a report on the night of July 28 of a missing person from the 4400 block of Champions View, near Dublin Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

Police said it was reported that Cheryl Bennett, 56, had walked away from her home and had not been heard from.

On Friday, police said they were dispatched to the 6400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway, about two miles south of that Champions View address, on a report that someone had located a dead body. When officers arrived on scene, they said they found a dead woman in the area.

The coroner’s office conducted an autopsy
