SUTHERLIN, Ore. – A 42-year-old California man died early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle on his bicycle on Interstate 5 near Sutherlin, according to the Oregon State Police.

OSP officials said they responded just before 2:30 a.m. on July 31 for a vehicle versus bicyclist traffic crash near milepost 133 in Douglas County. A black Toyota Tundra driven by a 66-year-old Roseburg man was traveling southbound when it struck a bicyclist, identified as Justin Jay Little of Cypress, Calif., who was riding in the fast lane of travel for an unknown reason, state police said. Authorities said Little was declared deceased at the scene.
