INDIANAPOLIS — Republican leaders said they want to put more teeth into Indianapolis' curfew ordinance , and they are hoping expensive fines will pay off.
The juvenile curfew violation, proposed by the City-County Council Republican caucus on Wednesday, comes in response to recent incidents involving juveniles and calls for parental accountability.
If approved, the first curfew violation would be a written notice sent to parents. The second violation would be a $500 fine. If there is a third violation, or more, it is a fine of $1,500.
City-County Councilor Joshua Bain (R-District 21) is part of the Republican caucus. He said this is an attempt to address a lack of consequences for curfew violations.
