ST. CHARLES COUNTY (First Alert 4) - Francis Howell School District paid its newly hired superintendent nearly a year’s salary to walk away before he ever started, and within days, he had already landed a new job.
Mike Dominguez was hired in March after a months-long search, with plans to take over as superintendent starting July 1. Four days before his scheduled start date, the district announced Dominguez’s arrival would be delayed due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
He never showed up to work.
For four weeks, district leaders declined to answer any questions about Dominguez’s status. Behind closed doors, the school board met several times in July to discuss legal and personnel matters. Then on Thursday, Dominguez officially resigned.
