WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after people ran from the scene of a crash on DC-295, leaving a man to die.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to the northbound lanes of DC-295 near the exit for Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, after hearing a person had been hit by a car.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man not breathing. He had reportedly been hit by a Toyota Camry, and despite DC Fire and EMS arriving to help, the man died a short time later.

Police have since identified the man as 58-year-old Lee Clark, of Capitol Heights, Maryland.
