Man pleads guilty in murder of his uncle in Pickens County

A man was sentenced after pleading guilty in the death of his uncle in Pickens County.

According to the district attorney's office, Erick Lindsey, 39, of Aliceville, entered the plea in court Wednesday.

Lindsey pleaded guilty to the murder of Willie Lindsey, Jr., 63, on Feb. 24, 2023, said the district attorney's office.

It was reported that Willie Lindsey was shot multiple times and then struck in the head repeatedly with a shotgun.

"This was a violent and deliberate act that ended a man's life and deeply affected an entire family," said District Attorney Andy Hamlin. "I appreciate the thorough work by law enforcement to uncover the facts and hold the offender accountable."

Erick Lindsey was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
