TORRINGTON, Conn — Torrington police said Wednesday that they are investigating a July fire as arson and that a reward of up to $2,500 will be offered for information.

The fire happened on July 8 at a vacant building on 102 Highland Ave., which police described as a "commercial/residential property." According to the Torrington Fire Department, no one was hurt, but the police department is viewing the incident as potentially criminal in nature.

Firefighters first received a call about the fire shortly after 12:30 a.m. and found visible smoke and flames coming from the rear windows. The fire department said they brought it under control within 20 minutes, helping to "prevent further damage and [ensure] the safety of the surrounding area."
