Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A suspect has been arrested after five soldiers were shot and hospitalized Wednesday morning at the U.S. Army’s Fort Stewart in central-eastern Georgia.
The suspect is Army Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, who is an automated logistics soldier, Brig. Gen. John Lubas said during a press conference at the Army base on Wednesday afternoon.
“This morning, shortly before 11 [a.m. EDT], an active duty soldier assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia, shot and wounded five of his fellow soldiers,” Lubas said.
“Thankfully, all are in stable condition,” Lubas added, “and all are expected to recover.”
Lubas said soldiers who witnessed the shooting “immediately and without hesitation tackled the soldier [and] subdued him.”
