WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - A Waterloo man was sentenced for illegally returning to the United States after being deported three times.

In June 2025, 38-year-old Fidel Ramos-Ramos, a citizen of Guatemala, pled guilty to one count of illegal reentry into the United States after being deported. He was living in Waterloo at the time.

Police say he admitted to illegally returning to the United States without permission after being deported. He was previously deported in 2012, 2014, and 2017.

According to court documents, Ramos-Ramos illegally returned to Texas in January 2024.

In April 2025, immigration officials discovered he had illegally returned to the United States. Officials found him at the Black Hawk County Jail after police issued a statewide arrest warrant.
