Elk Fire- 8,304 acres, 0% contained
Fire officials said the Elk Fire began on Saturday, Aug. 2 and was caused by lightning. The fire is burning north of Glenwood Springs, near the town of Meeker. According to officials in Rio Blanco County, two houses and an outbuilding had been destroyed in the Elk Fire as of Wednesday afternoon.
